ENAO conducted an awareness program on accreditation and related issues in January 2012 in Mekele in Tigray and in Bahir Dar in Amara.

The awareness focused on the themes quality infrastructure, accreditation and WTO agreement, steps towards accreditation, WHO/AFRO accreditation scheme and current status of ENAO to the attendance from Universities, research institutions, industries, hospital laboratories, inspection bodies, labs  (Forensic, water, Environmental, Soil, Construction, Agriculture & slaughterhouse), bureaus (TVET, health, Agriculture, industry, &Trade).

  • The Quality Infrastructure comprisedcause of Strengthening NQI,  QI as a pillar of innovation, National & International linkage of IQ, quality Infrastructure in the value chain, QI links society and Business, Building blocks of NQI (Standard, Conformity Assessment, Metrology, and Accreditation) and the end goal of NQI.
  • Accreditation and WTO enhanced: Principles of TBT Agreement, Harmonization and mutual acceptance of Conformity Assessment results, Mutual recognition, Objective of recognition as well as Accreditation and international trade.
  • Steps towards accreditation focused on:  investigation phase, implementation phase,  ENAO Accreditation process( Application Procedure,  Assessment Procedure, Accreditation Procedure, Surveillance Procedure). 

The awareness program will soon resume in Oromia, South Nations Nationalities and People as well as Dire Dawa.
