ENAO’s new Director-General, Ato Araya Fesseha, was recently appointed and took up his position at ENAO on 23 May 2011.
Ato Araya is a Chemical Engineer with a BSc degree in Chemistry from Asmara University and an MSc in Chemical Engineering from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. His professional experience covers a variety of posts from teaching chemistry to being a chemical engineer in the textile industry and more recently as a departmental head at the Defence Engineering College where he established the chemical engineering and industrial chemistry curricula and the organizational infrastructure of the Chemical Engineering Department.
Ato Araya is ready for the challenge of establishing ENAO as a fully operational accreditation body within a very short period and he joined the first group of ENAO candidate-assessors to support them in their ISO/IEC 17025 training in May 2011. He believes in getting the best performance from people by using a participative style of management and by effective team building. “The establishment of ENAO as the first-ever National accreditation body for conformity assessment bodies is a major milestone in the development of an effective National Quality Infrastructure in Ethiopia. ENAO will fulfill its mandate to accredit organizations to perform conformity assessment activities in a competent manner and by so doing will elevate the quality of products and services delivered by the Ethiopian economy. It is an exciting development and I look forward to leading ENAO to a level of excellence where it can be recognized internationally as an equal among its peer accreditation bodies worldwide said, Araya.
