By Ethiopia News Agency on 8th World Accreditation Day
Ethiopian National Accreditation Office (ENAO) has urged producers, service providers and stakeholders to get certified and provide standardized and quality products and services.
Addressing the World Accreditation Day, ENAO Director-General Araya Fisha said today institutions have low interest to get their produces and service accredited.
Accredited institutions help to promote the country’s goods and services through providing standardized products for local consumption and for the global market, he pointed out.
The Director-General stressed that prior attention should be given by all stakeholders at this juncture since food and food related products in the market are not inspected and got certified.
As in the developed economies government and regulatory bodies should cooperate to ensure that businesses provide safe products and working conditions.
“If the Ethiopian government regulators properly promote conformity assessment bodies and insist that they utilize the Ethiopian National Accreditation Office service, investors will be highly encouraged and motivated to invest in our country,” Araya noted.
Science and Technology State Minister, Ifrah Ali called on all concerned institutions to get their products and services accredited so as to become competent internationally and ensure sustainability of the ongoing development.
The accreditation service which is being given locally will enable to provide quality products and services by passing them through standardized laboratories, inspections, and certifications, she affirmed.
The World Accreditation Day is marked today for the 8th time in Ethiopia.
