Call for Healthcare Accreditation Surveyor

Ethiopian Accreditation Service (EAS), in collaboration with the Ministry of Health- Ethiopia (MoH) and the Institute of Ethiopian Standard (IES), has been working on the development of Ethiopian Healthcare Accreditation Programs (EHAP) standards with a range of technical and financial support from various organizations, including the FDA, EPHI, EHI, Ethiopian Healthcare Federation, and partners such as IHI, USAID-QHA, and Irish Aid- Health Service Executive have been undertaking Ethiopian Healthcare Accreditation Program (EHAP) standards. In line with this, EAS is currently in the final stages of obtaining approval for these accreditation documents and has also become a member of the International Society for Quality in Healthcare (ISQua).

EAS is preparing to launch its implementation, and one of the top priorities is to establish a skilled pool of trained surveyors. Therefore, we are inviting applications from health professionals and health program managers who meet the specified requirements to register for the Healthcare Accreditation Program Surveyor Training. This is a unique opportunity to work with leading healthcare institutions and contribute to enhancing patient safety and quality of care

Candidates should have, at least, the following qualifications and experience:

  1. A University degree/master/specialties’ in a relevant healthcare discipline (e.g., medicine, nursing, public health, pharmacy, medical laboratory sciences, biomedical engineers, health program managers, health administration…).
  2. Be able to speak and write English at an advanced level
  3. Preferably have quality management system experience and accreditation standards (ISO 15189, ISO 9001, healthcare quality improvement basic training, or hospital standards), and regulatory requirements, preferably with prior audit experience.
  4. Having at least five (5) years of relevant work experience in health care settings, including hospitals, health centers, or clinics as a care provider, facility manager, HR, …
  5. Experience in training or mentoring healthcare professionals.
  6. Exhibit the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  7. Have an understanding of ethical standards in healthcare and a demonstrated commitment to upholding them.

Evaluation and Screening:

Candidates will be evaluated and screened throughout the training schedule through a very rigorous evaluation. The selected applicants will participate in and undergo a series of competency-based training in EHAP standards, survey tools, standard criteria, and measuring elements. Those who meet the standards for the final registration will be contracted by EAS as part-time surveyors for assessments as required.

ASSESSOR TRAINING Invitation

The Ethiopian Accreditation Service (EAS) is now inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates who wish to be trained as part-time EAS assessors for Testing and Calibration laboratories accreditation service.

Candidates should have, at least, the following qualifications and experience:

  1. A University degree/master in Natural Science or Engineering,
  2. Be able to speak and write English at an advanced level
  3. Preferably have quality system knowledge and audit experience
  4. Have at least four (4) years’ experience in Testing Laboratory or Calibration Laboratory, two (2) years of which is bench-work or filed-work experience in specific technical field.

Candidates who have a diploma, and who have the above attributes, with ten (10) years’ experience, four (4) years of which is bench-work or filed-work experience in specific field will be considered.

Preference will be given to applicant where the candidate has already some practical experience in accreditation and quality system implementation.

Applicants who are selected will undergo rigorous training in:-

  • ISO/IEC 17025:2017 General Requirements for Testing and Calibration Laboratory
  • Assessment techniques in a scenario and role-playing environment,
  • Method Validation/Verification and Uncertainty and,
  • On site assessments with qualified assessors as mentors.

Evaluation and Screening of candidates will occur throughout the training schedule and those candidates who reach final registration as assessor will be contracted-in by EAS for assessments as required
